Young Peacebuilders Forum 2018 | 18-22 September | The Hague
Coinciding with the Just Peace festival, UNOY Peacebuilders’ 4th edition of the Young Peacebuilders Forum will take place in The Hague from 18 to 22 September 2018 and bring together 55 to 70 young peacebuilders from all around the world.
The theme of the Young Peacebuilders Forum 2018 is ‘Shaping the Narrative’.This years’ theme has been chosen in reaction to trends of polarisation, hate speech and fear of ‘the other’ that is contemporary to all societies globally. Deconstructing these exclusionary rhetorics is crucial for peace and stability, and involves a shift of discourse towards positive and inclusive social narratives. At the YPF we will explore how peaceful narratives can foster positive social relationships and what role can young people play in this endeavor.
To shape a peaceful narrative, share with all of us your experiences and to grow together, we encourage you to apply if you are:
- Aged between 18 and 30
- Fluent in English, it is important to us that you feel comfortable to participate!
Both UNOY Peacebuilders member organizations and non-members are welcome to apply, as this Forum will be the opportunity to discover and learn from one another. Priority will be given to participants who:
- have experience in fields related to peacebuilding and conflict transformation;
- are currently active in a youth peace organization;
- are committed to multiplying the outcomes of the activity in their own work.
The selection of participants will be based on the applicant’s’ motivation and experience, as well as gender balance and geographical diversity.
Due to funding restrictions, the majority of participants will come from Europe. However, we encourage non-European peacebuilders to apply as we will have some positions available for non-European participants.
Accommodation, food and travel costs are fully covered apart from a participation fee of 135€ per person. The forum is supported by the Council of Europe.
