UNOY in the Latin American region
The Latin American part of the global network of UNOY Peacebuilders consists
of 5 member youth peace organisations and some affiliates from all over the
continent. The communication language of UNOY and the Latin American region
members is English, although we sustain some informal communications in Spanish
with our network’s members. The members and affiliates are mainly involved
in youth and peacebuilding and implement several activities within the network.

Mission
- To strengthen the network by linking up organisations and leaders.
- To advocate and promote the role of Latin American youth in peacebuilding and
peace related issues.
- To improve the knowledge, skills and capacities of youth peace organisations
within the Latin American region by trainings and sharing expertise.
- To facilitate an exchange of experience and practice among youth leaders
working in peacebuilding and strengthen their capacity to network and develop joint
projects at local, national and regional levels (self-help networks).
- To increase young peoples capacity to deal with the inter- and intra- personal,
community and organisational, cultural, social and political dimensions of conflict
and peace by sharing experiences.
Activities International Secretariat
- Facilitation of the network by communicating with the members and affiliates
and linking them up so as to share experiences and strengthen the effectiveness
of their actions.
- Exchange of ideas on how to collaborate in joint projects between UNOY and
the member organisations.
- Advocacy and campaigning for youth and peacebuilding, also on behalf of the
Latin American organisations.
- Development of new partnerships with other Latin American context NGOs to
expand the network and to set up intercultural and interdisciplinary cooperation.
Activities of Latin American members and affiliates, a few examples:
- advocacy for the role of young leaders;
- community service and integration of youth organisations;
- endorse youthful social responsibility and political participation;
- capacity building trainings on leadership, health, sexuality, environment;
- strengthen youthful organisations;
- creation of productive and social projects;
- monitor families to prevent situations of risk and promoting alliances for the
reconstruction of the social network.
