Youth Advocacy and Campaigning

Advocacy: the act of pleading or arguing in favor of something, such as a cause, idea, or policy and is an ongoing dynamic process.

UNOY Peacebuilders is targeting all levels of decision making, including the local, national, regional, and international level. UNOY Peacebuilders focuses on issues relating to the role of youth and peacebuilding at all these levels closely, and carries out its advocacy on these issues.

Campaigning: raising awareness through gatherings, public activities an PR-campaigns amongst the general public on issues of concern to the members of the network.

In this respect, UNOY Peacebuilders focuses on issues relating to the role of youth in peacebuilding, with the aim of motivating the youth in particular to take action.

Mission of the UNOY Advocacy Team

Core activities

  1. Researching, publishing and disseminating documents addressing the role of youth in peacebuilding and the mission of UNOY Peacebuilders.
  2. Carrying out advocacy on behalf of - and with - its members, at the level of:
    • European Union commissioners in Brussels;
    • Members of the European Parliament;
    • Permanent Mission to the United Nations, and the organs and agencies of the United Nations.
  3. Training of youth organisations and groups in Advocacy and Campaigning.
